The Overcast Room

at Cloud Studios in Seattle, WA

The Overcast Room is a podcast recording studio conveniently located in the heart of Seattle's Capitol Hill Pike/Pine corridor. It serves businesses operating branded podcasts and individuals of any experience level looking to bring their ideas to life. Our producers and engineers will help you find your niche and create a unique show suited to your voice.

The room is yours. Our most basic offering gives you full access to the sound-isolated studio and the audio equipment (four condenser microphones, studio headphones, and a 12-channel audio mixer).

You record to your laptop and take home the raw audio from your session.

Note: For a successful Tier 1 session, please follow the steps here to prepare your laptop. Not following these steps could lead to loss of audio, and since there is no engineer on-site in Tier 1, an unprepared computer can ruin your session.

Add a professional touch. An engineer will join you in studio to mix your show live and offer production help along the way. We make sure your audio sounds exactly the way you want it to.

Editing services are also available. Working off your direction, we create a finished product for you to publish and share.

$100/hr in-studio; $50/hr for editing

TIER 3 - Published AUDIO

Come in with an idea, sit in front of the microphone, and we’ll make your vision come to life. From producing to publishing to marketing, we’re here to help with every step of the podcasting process.

We’ll make your show easy for listeners to find on services like iTunes and Stitcher.

$50/hr à la carte

Thank you so much for this, and for the great session! You really made us feel comfortable, it was an awesome experience.

Example Packages

You have a brilliant idea for a podcast, you found us, and you're ready to bring it to life. You're looking to create 10 episodes. The Overcast Room's flexible pricing gives you a wide range of options.

10 session block

Option 1: Cost saver, $500

  • 10 hours of studio time: $500 (Tier 1 rate)

Option 1 is the cheapest option. You're an expert with a sound board, you have your own recording software, and you know how to edit your shows so they sound exactly like you want them to. If you're recording half-hour episodes, we recommend you book an hour per episode so you have 10 hours with our professional equipment. This allows guests to arrive, get seated, and have a full conversation. This will also give you time to record any intros, outros, or advertisements you have. We let you in the door 10 times, and you leave with your show, built from scratch by yourself.

Option 2: Engineering help, $1000

  • 10 hours of studio time with an engineer: $1000 (Tier 2 rate)

Option 2 includes an engineer that will use the sound board to make sure the audio is perfect. You don't have to worry about mixing audio or operating the recording software -- you can just focus on the content. At the end of each session, we'll send you all of the raw audio we record, and you edit and distribute it yourself.

Option 3: Light editing, $1500

  • 10 hours of studio time with an engineer: $1000
  • 10 hours of editing: $500 (Tier 2 rate)

Option 3 is the best option for most people. We take the editing work off your hands and give you 10 finished episodes. 10 hours of editing is a fairly light edit, enough time to add intro/outro music and take out any glaring mistakes or large chunks of content you don't want.

Option 4: Fine Combed Editing, $2000

  • 10 hours of studio time with an engineer: $1000
  • 20 hours of editing: $1000

Option 4 allows us to edit each episode to adjust for subtle volume and pitch discrepancies, take out any vocal tics ("umms" and "yeahs"), and remove long pauses to fine tune your show into exactly the voice you're looking for. You have 10 polished episodes at the end of this package.

Ala carte: $50/hour

At this rate, we take care of any other production needs you have, including distribution to iTunes/Stitcher/etc, analytics for your show, advertising, a web presence, and anything else you need.
